Captain Temo Verboonen reported very good action and close to the Bay. The sailfish have been concentrating in the same spot for more than a week in the same area, along with the quality sized dorado. The yellowfin tuna are making their presence known at the 30 mile mark and beyond. The schools of anchovies have moved in close to the beach areas and the bigger jack crevalle, Sierra, roosterfish and bonito are all in on the food festival. There is really good fishing around these bait balls for a variety of critters and the competition between the species makes for some very fast light tackle action for the anglers. It's that time of the year when the catching really starts to take off and the only thing we lack in this area is sufficient anglers to take advantage of the quality fishing that is currently available.

IZ Climate: Mostly cloudy days but very good temps at 70 nights to 90 daytime highs and unlimited visibility.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps are holding stable at 84-85 degrees from inshore to offshore with light & variable surface breezes at 5-10 mph and calm sea surface conditions and excellent water clarity.

Best Fishing Area: The sailfish and dorado are just a few miles from the Bay, starting at about 7 miles and outbound from there. Yellowfin tuna are starting at the 30 mile mark and have been readily available.

Best Lure/Bait: Excellent rigged bait fishing right now for both, billfish and dorado. Tuna are biting very well on tuna feathers, cedar plugs and a variety of other artificials, too. Inshore bite is good on the pencil poppers and live bait, too.

Bait Supply: Our bait supply continues to be excellent with no problem for live bait or fresh baits for rigging.
