Early in the week, according to Captain Temo Verboonen, the sailfish moved in close to the coastline and provided an excellent few days of hot-bite action for the anglers. Then, almost as if someone had thrown the switch, the water turned green all over the area and the bite dwindled with each passing day as the bite fell off. Still, Temo said the skippers were getting a few strikes everyday but not like it was earlier in the week. The inshore fishing is almost not existent as the water turned very green and very cold as the temps fell to 73 degrees from Ixtapa Point and south to Petatlan, (about a 40 mile stretch).

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days but plenty of sunshine, too, with temps that ranged from 69 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Water temps inshore fell to 73-74 degrees from the coastline out to about 10 miles, then rising to 80 degrees outbound to just inside the 1000 fathom curve, increasing to 84 degrees. The entire fishing area has turned into a tinted greenish water condition that has slowed the overall billfish bite and virtually shut down the inshore action.

Best Fishing Area: Early in the week the sailfish were providing some good action in the 8-12 mile area but now, after the water color change, the fish have scattered and there is no focused area.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits were working very well and were the recommended "ammo" for the billfish and dorado.
