Captain Temo Verboonen, our expert fishing reporter for Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, reported in for the past week and provided a terrific fishing report for the offshore fishing but difficult for the inshore fishing. During the early half of the week, the really high & low tides had created big surf conditions that made it impossible to fish the roosterfish and the inshore areas. As the 2nd half of the week mellowed the big surf conditions, the roosterfish popped right back with excellent action, especially in the Valentin Point area. The fish were quality sizes with many fish in the 30-45 lb. ranges. We had some big schools of dorado move into the area that provided excellent action on medium sized fish, (15-20 lb. ranges). We found them mixed in and swimming with the bonito. Billfish catches remain good through the week for most of the days and the entire week's action pretty much stayed within 8 miles from the coastline.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy with warm, humid days and very pleasant evenings. Temps varied from 73 nights to 93 daytime highs and a little on the humid side. Light surface breezes at 5-10 mph, mostly from the west to southwest directions.

Sea Conditions: Excellent! Blue water most everywhere and perfect temps that ranged from 85 inshore to 86 offshore.

Best Fishing Area: Valentin Point for the inshore fishing and almost anywhere selected for the offshore areas, all within 8 miles of the coast.

Best Bait/Lure: Roosters remained eager for the poppers and for live bait. The billfish were best on the rigged baits and dorado liked the rigged baits and the artificials, too.

Bait Supply: The bait supply, both live bait and fresh baits for rigging were plentiful and readily available. Liver bait still at approximately $5.00 per dozen.
