Still no black or blue marlin the mix and I still find this unusual given the numbers of dorado available in the near offshore waters. The dorado bite continues to be the primary action for the anglers, both inshore and offshore fishing. Given the excellent water temperatures holding just not too far offshore, one has to wonder where the bulk of the sailfish are hanging out as only an occasional sailfish is being caught, too. This past week we had reports for 10 offshore days fished that resulted in 2 sailfish, (1 released) 2 mako sharks and 69 dorado, (8 released) for the offshore waters and 54 dorado for the inshore super panga fleet.

Mazatlan Climate: A sun-cloud mix for most days with pleasant temperatures that ranged from 74 nights to 90 daytime highs. Great going out to dinner weather.

Sea Conditions: Surface breezes ranged from calm to 13 mph, mostly flowing in from the southwest directions. Sea temps holding stable at 85 inshore and gently rising to 87 offshore.

Best Fishing Area: The 2 sailfish were taken at about 20 miles offshore, along with a few dorado. Most of the dorado are coming from the shark buoys, located at intervals out to about 18 miles or so.

Best Bait/Lure: The sailfish and mako sharks were taken on rigged baits and for the most part, the dorado were taken on lures & spoons, a few on feathers and some on strip baits.

Bait Supply: The bait supply continues to be healthy and readily available with fresh baits for rigging provided with the charters and live baits at $1.00 per bait.
