Just an incredible fishing week for the Marina El Cid Sportfishing Fleet, just a few miles south of Cancun and nestled in on the Caribbean beach at Puerto Morelos, providing the many sportfishers easy access to the close proximity of the deep, blue waters, just out the front door. No long run distances to the fishing grounds here. When you leave the Marina El Cid, you are fishing within a few minutes for an incredible variety of sportfish and bottomfish that may range from 500 lb. blue marlin to a giant grouper. This past week provided an excellent mixed-bag catch for a total of 35 boat days fished, reflecting 21 different fish that included 2 blue marlin, 7 sailfish, 1 dorado, 3 king mackerel, 2 blackfin tuna, 9 giant barracuda, 1 needlefish, 2 Spanish mackerel, 26 snappers, 4 pilot fish, 49 triggerfish, 16 strawberry fish, 2 blackfish, 19 bonito, 37 soap fish, 19 banana fish, 13 grouper, 2 porgy, 3 amberjack and 1 chackchi and 3 scochi fish.

PM Climate: A mostly sunny and warm week with a few passing clouds and temps that ranged from 77 nights to 90 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Water temps are warming up for this area and holding stable at 86-87 degrees through the area. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the easterly directions at calm to 10 mph.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at less than a half-mile out front of the Marina El Cid, the boats are fishing in all directions with good fishing results for their anglers.

Best Bait: Per usual, Puerto Morelos continues to use the readily available ballyhoo for the supply of their sportfishers on a daily basis.
