Another week passes by in Mazatlan with none of the big black or blue marlin being caught. Why? Wish we knew as it is that time of the year when our reports should have already reflected some banner big fish catches. Water temps are near perfect and the feed biomass is readily available with lots of smaller dorado in the area, good water clarity, but still, they have yet to get here on location. Perhaps it's just going to be one of those late arrival seasons? However, the sailfish catches seem to be on-hand and readily available for most of the offshore boats with the catch rate for the past week at 83% and the opportunity to catch a dinner dorado or two in the mix. The overall catch report reflected 10 sailfish, (2 released) & 12 dorado for 12 days of off shore fishing and the super pangas reported 1 sailfish released, 15 dorado, (1 released) for 5 days of inshore fishing.


Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy days with scattered thunder showers and temps that ranged from 74 nights to 88 daytime highs and humiditty levels at 74%.

Sea Conditions: Surface is calm with light breezes flowing in mostly from the southerly directions. Sea temps stable at 87 inshore to 89 offshore.

Best Fishing Areas: Most of the sailfish are in the offshore waters beginning at about 17 miles southwest of the Marina El Cid and working outward bound from there.

Best Bait/Lure: The rigged trolling baits working best for both, sailfish and dorado.

Bait Supply: Continues to be readily available for both, fresh rigging baits and live bait. Rigging baits provided with the charter and live bait at $1.00 per bait.
