The billfish bite slowed up a little this past week and the average was at 39% of the boats landing billfish. High billfish boat for the week was the "Fish Cabo", reflecting 1 blue marlin, (released, in the 250 lb. range) and 5 stripers released for their 4 days fished. They also lost another blue marlin on Wednesday, following a short, half-hour fight but did land & release a couple of stripers for the day. The overall fish counts for a combined total of 38 days fished reflected 2 blue marlin, (released) 10 stripers (released) 3 sailfish, (2 released) 1 wahoo, 49 dorado 39 skipjack tuna and 18 yellowfin tuna, (school sized fish in the 20-25 lb. range).


Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy to cloudy days with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoons from Thursday thru Sunday. Air temps ranged from 77 nights to 92 daytime highs with humidity level at 79%.

Sea Conditions: Pacific side sea temps, from Finger Bank to Cabo Falso, stable at 84-85 degrees. Cabo San Lucas to Gorda Banks and into the Sea of Cortez at 86-89 degrees. Good clarity in all directions. Surface breezes are light & variable and flowing mostly from the southerly directions.

Best Fishing Area: 1-3 miles outside of Cabo Falso at the edge of the drop-off. Most of the fish caught this week were within 10 miles of the Cabo Harbor.

Best Lure/Bait: The blue marlin were taken on artificials in the mackerel colors. Sailfish and stripers taken on live bait and slow trolled rigged baits.

Live Bait Supply: Remains readily available for caballitos at the $3.00 per bait rate.
