It has been another remarkably great fishing week from Puerto Morelos that continues to provide anglers with fun fishing opportunities and a wide variety of mixed species in their catches. The 35 charter fishing trips of 4-6 & 8-hour durations, reflected an average boat catch of more than 7 fish per trip with a total of 301 fish reported landed or caught and represented a 17 fish mixed-bag catch. The various boat reports recorded 14 sailfish, 9 giant barracuda, 1 wahoo, 8 bonito, 4 blackfin tuna, 1 amberjack, 1 Spanish mackerel, 56 snappers, 52 triggerfish, 1 pilot fish, 1 moray eel, 74 banana fish, 45 soap fish, 25 strawberry fish, 1 blackfish, 5 grouper and 2 needlefish.

PM Climate: Here we are in the middle of the summer rainy and hurricane season and while there has been some sporadic showers, we are grateful that not a single hurricane has blown through the area so far this year. With any luck at all, this may be one of the few non-hurricane years and yes, we do have our fingers crossed. Temps are warm, 76 nights to 90 daytime highs with humidity at 74%.

Sea Conditions: Sea temps stable at 85-86 degrees with mostly calm seas and surface breezes, flowing in from the easterly directions to 12 mph.

Best Bait: The seemingly unending supply of ballyhoo continues to be the bait of choice for both anglers and crews.

Bait Supply: Continues to be an excellent, fresh, supply of various sized ballyhoo baits available for all of the sportfishing boats in this area, with bait included in the price of the charter.
