According to our local Zihuatanejo reporter, Captain Temo Verboonen, it was another wet and rainy week through the area and the Port was closed a couple of days due to rough seas and windy conditions. We did get out for a couple of days and the fishing was good, especially for the sailfish and dorado with both biting along the current line that is holding much debris. One notable improvement for the week was a better showing and bite for the roosterfish and bonitos along the inshore beaches on the slack windy days. It seems like it's been a very long rainy season this year and just doesn't want to give up, at least not yet.
IZ Climate: A rather wet & rainy week with scattered thunder showers to full rain almost on a daily basis.
Sea Conditions: Only a couple of fishable days during the week and those days offered good fishing results, too. Sea temps stable at 81.5-82 degrees. Surface breezes flowing mostly from the easterly directions and followed y a couple of days off northerly wind that ranged from 5 to 17 mph.
Best Fishing Area: Starting at the current line, about 8 miles or so, directly in front of the Zihuatanejo Bay entrance.
Best Lure/Bait: The rigged baits were doing well for the offshore fishing and the sailfish and dorado were both fairly eager to make the baits disappear.
