The offshore fishing for this time of year was extraordinarily slow
and for whatever reason, unexplainable. The temps are good, clarity
is excellent, moon phase is fine, but still, a very slow offshore
bite when sailfish and black & blue marlin should be the everyday
action throughout the area. The overall fish counts for 14 days
fished reflected 2 sailfish released and 12 dorado for their efforts.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly cloudy with temps from 75-92 and humid.
Sea Conditions: Good temps and clarity and little swell with light
surface breezes and temps at 85-86 throughout the area.
Best Fishing Area: None reported. The boats are fishing in all
directions from Northwest to the South and there is no fish
concentration in any location.
Best Lure/Bait: The two sailfish were taken o slow-trolled rigged
mullet.

While only 53% of the boats reflected stripers in their counts, most of the fish were taken while drifting deep live baits at the Cabo Falso drop- off. This type of fishing is normal in December but abnormal in September/October. ...... Read More
