10 inches of rain in 4 days at Cabo San Lucas puts the damper on fishing

Cabo had an enormous amount of rain when it was over and done with and it totaled about 10 inches for the 4 days of almost continuous rain. Nothing brightens Cabo up like the summer rains and this will allow the desert flowers to bloom and the entire area to turn green like a forest. I would think that the ground water supplies got well replenished, too, which bodes well for the entire area. While the port remained open all week for the bigger boats, it was closed a couple of days for the pangas. We had 3 days without a single charter and I would suppose it's because anglers don't like fishing in the rain? Guess I can't blame'em; I don't like fishing in the rain, either. The overall fish counts for the 4 days fished reflected a total of 13 days and resulted in 4 stripers released, 2 sailfish released, 3 dorado and 113 yellowfin and skipjack tuna.

Cabo Climate: Partly cloudy days with a good mix of sunshine intervals and temps that ranged from 76 nights to 92 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Generally, it was a pretty calm week with mostly light and variable surface breezes and sea temps that held pretty stable at 81-84 on the Pacific side of Cabo and up to 86-87 on the Sea of Cortez side of Cabo, all with good offshore clarity.

Best Fishing Areas: All of the billfish and tuna came from the Pacific side of Cabo and ranged from the Golden Gate area to the Herradura area, out to the south of Cabo.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was best for the billfish and feathers, cedar plugs, and a myriad of other smaller artificials were working very well with the tuna and skipjack.

Bait Supply: Remains very good for the caballitos at $3.00 per bait.
