A terrific fishing week for The Aries Sportfishing Fleet, operating from the Marina El Cid, in Mazatlan. All of the offshore cruisers averaged at least 2 billfish per boat day fished and a couple of the boats had some notable results. The Aries I, skippered by Captain Jose Zamora, captured all 3 blue marlin for the week, along with 10 sailfish for a total of 6 days fished, releasing 7 of the sailfish. High count billfish boat for the week was the Aries IX, skippered by Captain Gilberto Qunintero, reflecting a total 16 sailfish for a total of 4 fishing days with 11 sailfish caught and released on November 18, 2012. The overall fish counts for a total of 28 offshore fishing days reflected 3 blue marlin, (all under 300 lbs.) 55 sailfish, (31 released) and 13 dorado for the offshore cruisers and 3 sailfish, 5 dorado and 6 jack crevalle, (aka toro) for the super pangas that reflected 7 days fished.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy with cool mornings and evenings and perfectly comfortable days with temps that ranged from 62 nights to 87 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: A great week for water weather with nearly all calm seas for the week and light & variable surface breezes, (5-10 mph) and little to no swell. Water temps remained stable at 82 inshore and rising to 84 offshore with excellent claritty.

Best Fishing Area: Most of the billfish were coming from the southwest of the Marina El Cid, starting at about 18 miles and outbound from there.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits were "on fire" this past week as were the live baits, as the billfish seemed especially eager and anxious to bite.

Bait Supply: An excellent supply of fresh caught baits for rigging and a very good supply of live bait available.
