The striper action was starting to get better with the progression of the week but the wind blew hard on the Pacific side on Wednesday & Thursday and made the fishing on that side of the peninsula next to impossible. Now, the water temp on the Pacific side has taken a downturn and while that's not abnormal for February, it still is an untimely change for the anglers. The overall combined fish reports for the Gaviota & Fish Cabo fleets for 31 days reflected 15 stripers, (13 released) 18 dorado, 3 yellowfin tuna, 38 skipjack tuna, 1 mako shark, 1 hammerhead shark and 76 Sierras. High billfish boat for the week was the "Gaviota IV", skippered by Captain Octavio Castillo, with 6 stripers released for 4 fishing days.

Cabo Climate: Back to cold mornings and evenings under mostly cloudy conditions and temps that ranged from 53 nights to 76 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Rough and windy on the Pacific side from mid-week with sea temps falling to 71-72 from the Golden Gate Bank and southerly, warming to 73-74 at Cabo Falso, inshore and out to about 5 miles and farther offshore it was 75-76. Sea of Cortez side, from Chileno to Las Frailes, temps at 72-73 inshore. Outside the 1000 fathom curve and above and outside the Gorda Banks, temps were 77-78 degrees.

Best Fishing Area: The Golden Gate Bank had been the better area for the billfish but if the water temps keep falling, the fish will be on the move, probably around the corner or farther offshore to the warmer and cleaner waters.

Best Bait/Lure: Live bait has been best with a few fish coming in good on the artificials, especailly the mackerel colors.

Live Bait Supply: Remains good for caballitos and a few mackerel in the mix.
