According to Captain Temo Verboonen, our Ace Reporter for this area, the fishing has really come back to life for both, the inshore fishing and offshore fishing, as the waters have cleaned up and warmed up throughout the area. It's really nice, blue water and the big game fish are holding well at the 7 mile mark from the entrance to Zihuatanejo Bay, with an excellent bite on the billfish. The yellowfin tuna are providing very good action for the anglers just a bit farther offshore, around the 15 mile mark, and while not the giant tuna, they are definitely the fun to catch fish, in the school fish size ranges, 10-15 lbs. Adding to the good offshore fishing is the upward spiral for the inshore action as the roosterfish and jack crevalle are providing excellent angler entertainment at Valentin Point. The numbers of anglers has slowed up considerably and that is unfortunate, as the fishing has rebounded all over the area.

IZ Climate: A sun-cloud mix that provides warm, toasty days and very pleasant nights and temps that range from 70 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Excellent! Inshore, the water temps are holding at 83 degrees and rise to 85-86 just outside the 100 fathom curve and rising gain just outside the 1000 fathom curve to 87-88 degrees. Light surface breezes in the 10-15 mph ranges and very light sw swell.

Best Fishing Area: Billfish are at 7 miles from the harbor and the tuna at the 15-mile mark. The roosterfish and jack crevalle showing up well at Valentin Point.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits working best for the billfish and a wide assortment of tuna feathers and lures working well for the yellowfin. Live bait working well for the inshore fish as are pencil poppers.

Bait Supply: Continues to be plentiful and uninterrupted for both, live bait and fresh baits for rigging.
