Finally, the blue marlin have started to show up in the Mazatlan fishing zone and with any luck at all, they will continue to bite through the remainder of the season. The largest fish for the week was a 420 lb. blue marlin taken aboard the "Aries IV", skippered by Captain David Cabanillas. The angler was Manuel Camacho Montano from Hermosillo, Sonora State, Mexico. There were only three off-shore fishing days this past week that provided 2 blue marlin, 2 sailfish, (1 released) and 2 dorado. The inshore super pangas, also reporting in for three fishing days reflected 1 blue marlin and 10 dorado for their efforts.

Mazatlan Climate: There has been off and on rain through the week with the heavier rain at night and one port closure day. Currently the conditions are partly cloudy with temps that varied from 72 nights to 93 daytime highs with more rain projected for the coming days.

Sea Conditions: One port closure day due to adverse weather but overall, good sea conditions and excellent water temps that are stable at 86-87 degrees. Surface breezes up to 13 mph and small swell conditions prevail throughout the area.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 15 miles and moving offshore from there in the areas out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits best for the sailfish and dorado and 1 blue marlin. Others taken on larger artificials in the dorado colors.

Bait Supply: Remains very good with both, live bait asd fresh mullet for rigging.
