There is still a few sailfish throughout the area but overall, the main sailfish seasonal bite has diminished and probably won't return until April/May 2014, the peak sailfish months of the year. The numbers of charters have slowed for this area, probably due to the heat of summer and now, kids are starting back to school in the U.S., allowing for less family travels. Still, the fishing has been providing the continuous mixed bag catches for the anglers and this past week was more of the same, producing a 12 fish variety for the anglers. The reports for a total of 20 days fished reflected 2 sailfish, 2 wahoo, 12 giant barracuda, 22 bonito, 2 Spanish mackerel for the surface action and 26 trigger fish, 1 snapper, 10 strawberry fish, 17 soap fish, 10 grouper, 1 porgy and 6 banana fish for the fleet.

PM Climate: Mostly cloudy days with temps that ranged from 72 nights to 90 daytime highs, accompanied by easterly surface breezes to about 9mph. A few thunder showers through the week but no port closures.

Sea Conditions: Overall, it's been a good fishing week with good fishing conditions in the area. Sea temps holding steady and stable at 84 degrees throughout the area and very small swells.

Best Bait: The ever present supply of ballyhoo continues to be the source of preferred "ammunition" for all of the variety of fish in this area and is prepared to the type of fish being sought after.
