Captain Temo Verboonen, our on-the-spot reporter for Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, came through with a completely changed and very upbeat fishing report for for the area. He started off with, "After the storms, the ocean has calmed and the weather is perfect and best of all, the fish want to bite. During the early part of the week, the fish had moved far offshore, staying clear of the murky waters caused by the outfall from the rivers and the over abundance of rains. The fish want to bite at the color change with reports of big dorado averaging a 35 lb. mark and a sustained sailfish bite in the same area". Each passing day brings the good water closer to the beach and minus more rain and wind, the area is coming back to life and getting ready for the next big fishing go-round. Give the area another week or so without inclement weather conditions and the entire area will rebound and the roosterfish will return to the area for those inshore anglers. IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days with intermittent sunshine periods providing perfect temperatures that ranged from 72 nights o 92 daytime highs. Light & variable surace breezes flowing from the westerly directions at 55-10 mph. Sea Conditions: Back to calm from inshore to offshore with sea temps stabile and ranging from 85-86 degrees throughout the area. Best Fishing Area: At the color change line from 12-15 miles offshore, fishing the line on the clean side and outbound from there. Best Lure/Bait: Rigged baits working very well for both, sailfish and dorado. Bait Supply: Remains excellent for both, live bait and fresh rigging baits.
