Still a little slow for the numbers of fishing days but the weather has started to settle and provided a much better fishing week that reflected mostly bottom fish availability for the anglers. The overall action for a total of 14 days fished produced 20 giant barracuda, 16 bonito, 2 rainbow runners, 1 Spanish mackerel, 12 snapper, 11 triggerfish, 3 grouper, 4 soapfish, 3 strawberry fish, 2 banana fish and 2 grunts. Given a few better weather days, the fishing will pop right back to it's normal wide spectrum mixed bag catches enjoyed throughout this area. PM Climate: Fair weather during the early week and changing for Thursday with thunder showers and an expected 2-inch rainfall for the day. Then, clearing and back to good fishing weather for the weekend and coming week. Temps are still good and ranged from 71 nights to 90 daytime highs and light to 10 mph easterly surface breezes. Sea Conditions: Sea temps very stable at 84 degrees and good clarity in the near offshore waters from just a few miles outside the Marina El Cid. Very little swell and very light surface breezes. Best Bait: The seemingly ever present ballyhoo continues to be the bait of choice for the anglers and the crews throughout this area. The availability on a daily basis has been phenomenal for the past several years.
