The Mazatlan inshore and offshore fishing are picking up a little steam as we progress into the fall fishing season. The number of anglers are increasing by the day and the fishing results are offering good fishing for the anglers. This past week reflected a total of 16 offshore fishing days that resulted in 1 blue marlin, (275 lb. range) 7 sailfish, (1 released) 8 yellowfin tuna, 1 wahoo, 1 mako shark and 37 dorado, (10-25 lb. fish). The inshore super pangas reflected 7 fished days that resulted in 7 corvina, 40 triggerfish and 32 red snappers. According to our reporter for Mazatln, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, the weather was much improved with mostly light & variable surface breezes in the 5-10 mph ranges and lots of sunshine with a few passing clouds during the days but overall, very good fishing weather for the anglers.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days but plenty of sunshine, too. Temps ranged from 69 nights to 89 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Temps holding stable at 84 inshore and rising to 86 offshore. Good clarity at about 15 miles and outbound from there. Some SW swell, residual from Hurricane Raymond, but mostly light & variable surface winds in the 5-10 mph ranges flowing from the westerly directions.

Best Fishing Area: Most of the billfish are coming from the 18-22 mile mark and continues to be out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits were best for the billfish. Live bait working well on the drop back for additional dorado being caught on the troll. Tuna on the feathers.

Bait Supply: Remained very good for both, live bait at $1.00 per bait and fresh baits for rigging, provided free.
