Hurricane Raymond came out of the blue and settled in on Zihuatanejo, adding huge amounts of rain to an already pre-soaked area of the State of Guerrero. I talked with our local representative this morning, Captain Temo Verboonen, and all he could say was the area didn't need any more water from the sky. The rivers are full and running, there are road wash-outs, mud slides in the hills, flooding in some of the prone flooding areas and increased hardships for quite a few of the local families. The Port has been closed for several days and it's unlikely it will re-open for several more days. Raymond started moving out of the area on Wednesday and the winds have subsided but the rain just keeps coming from the wide bands of the Hurricane. It doesn't really look like the rain will be gone for another couple of days, probably lasting through the weekend.

I talked with Temo today and he said the rain had diminished and they even had some sunshine and with any luck at all, the boat may be back to fishing by tomorrow. At the time we talked there was zero wind and the seas were calm.
