According to Captain Temo Verboonen, our local fishing reporter, the weather has finally calmed down and the fishing has bounced right back to a much better track than prior to the storms. Right now, there are very good numbers on big dorados with some of the fish approaching the 45- lb. plus mark and an excellent sailfish bite, just 15 miles out front of the Bay and at the edge of the water clarity change. This is an outstanding period of time for the flyfishing and light tackle anglers. There are lots of trees and logs floating about and holding lots of bait that is attracting many dorado and sailfish into the area. The inshore area is starting to look a little better but the rivers are still running and making what we call chocolate water that hampers the inshore bite around the river outlet areas. Mostly bonito with a few roosterfish. A little rain in the nights this past week but decent weather during the week with mostly light and variable surface breezes. IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps that ranged from 74 nights to 92 daytime highs. A few showers in the mountains this past week but finally a weather break for the town of Zihuatanejo and up-town at Ixtapa. Sea Conditions: Settling down considerably following the tropical rains and winds from Hurricane Raymond. Temps are holding well at 84-85 degrees from the shoreline out to the 1000 fathom curve, about 25 miles offshore. Currently light & variable surface breezes from the westerly directions at 5-10 mph.

Best Fishing: Right at the 15 mile mark, directly out front of the Bay and on the change from murky to blue water.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was working very well in combination with trolling artificials and rigged baits.

Bait Supply: Good live bait supply along with plenty of freshly caught baits for rigging. Live bait continues at $5.00 per dozen.
