Cabo San Lucas is progressing better & better with the passing of each day and finally, no other tropical depressions or storms are on the horizon throughout the entire Eastern Pacific and for the first time since June, we have a period of calmness for the entire Eastern Pacific area. Hurricane Simon just passed by, way offshore, and will cross over Baja just above Cedros Island, midway up the Baja peninsula, and head toward the mainland and into Arizona, during the next couple of days. If we get lucky, we have seen the last of the inclement and violent weather systems for the entire Easter Pacific for the remainder of the year. Coming up soon are the big fishing tournaments, including the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament, the Bisbee Offshore Tournament and then the Bisbee Black & Blue ending up October and then, starting out the month of November, the Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot Tournament. The fishing & catching remains excellent, even with the full moon conditions. Captain Roberto Marquez, aboard the "Fish Cabo", reported leaving the dock at 2:00 P.M. with a group of contractors and insurance coverage anglers and heading for the Cabo Falso area. Half the anglers got queasy and wanted to go back. They returned to the dock, let them off & went right back out but headed in the Sea of Cortez direction. Just outside the Riu Palace, about a half-mile or so offshore, they had a triple jig strike on stripers, landed two and one got away early. Shortly after, they added a dorado to their afternoon catch and went back in. A rather short and successful afternoon for those that stayed aboard. Also, the Gaviota X reported in with a couple of stripers and added dorado to his catch for a single fishing day and the Gaviota IX reported in with a good catch of dorado for their anglers. So, the count was a total of 4 stripers and 11 dorado for the 3 days fished and any way you look at that, it was a great fishing report for a very few boat days fished.

Sea Conditions: Very good sea conditions continue on both sides of the peninsula. On the Pacific side, from the Finger Bank, down to Cabo and around the corner to Palmilla Point, stable at 83. Gently rising to 84-85 from San Jose and into the Sea of Cortez. Surface breezes calm to 8 mph and flowing mostly from the easterly directions.

Best Fishing Area: A good billfish bite from Cabo Falso to Santa Maria Bay with the "Fish Cabo" reporting a triple jig strike about a half-mile or so off the beach in the Riu Palace area, just a couple miles from the Marina.

Best Bait/Lure: According to Captain Roberto Marquez, they were using different lures and colors when all three were bit by stripers. One fell off and the other two stayed glued to the lures.

Bait Supply: Very good live bait supply at the $3.00 per bait rate and apparently not affected by the full moon conditions.
