The Aries Sportfishing Fleet is still producing good billfish catches for their anglers and the angler success ratio is running very close to 70%. This past week we had a total of 23 days fished in the offshore waters that wound up with 2 stripers, 14 sailfish, (2 released) 3 yellowfin tuna and 20 dorado. The inshore super pangas reported in for 4 days fishing and reflected 12 dorado and 1 shark for their efforts. Overall, the fall fishing conditions for Mazatlan are near perfect. Weather and sea conditions are "as good as it gets" and the sea temps are above the annual average mark and this should allow for continued good fishing right on past the coming New Year.

Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny & clear skies with warm days and cooler evenings. There are occasional passing clouds in the mix but overall, near perfect weather conditions.

Sea Conditions: Surface breezes ranging from calm to about 10 mph, flowing mostly from the westerly direction. Sea temps along the beach at 77 and rising to 79-80 in the offshore waters.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 17 miles out to the southwest of he Marina El Cid and working offshore from there.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged baits working best of the offshore billfish and for most of the dorado, too.

Bait Supply: Continues to be readily available with fresh rigging baits provided as part of the charter. Live bait is available at the rate of $1.00 per bait.
