It was a third week in a row that kept the dorado as the "Fish of the Week" with so much of the action on the Pacific side of Cabo, albeit, it has started to stretch around the corner and into the Sea of Cortez side for a couple of miles. Most of the fish are in the 10-25 lb. ranges with a few larger fish being taken. Most of the boats were experiencing limit style dorado fishing and there were many releases, too. The "Gaviota IX", skippered by CaptainCaptain Jorge Ruiz, was high boat for the week and reported in for 6 fishing days that included 2 stripers released, 1 sailfish released, 1 wahoo, 5 yellowfin tuna, 4 skipjack tuna and 32 dorado. The overall combined fish counts for a total of 37 days fished reflected 5 stripers released, 1 sailfish released, 8 yellowfin tuna, 1 wahoo, 5 skipjack tuna and 283 dorado. It was just a great fishing week that doesn't seem to want to change.

Cabo Climate: Cooler evenings and very pleasant days with temps that varied from 63 nights to 89 daytime highs. The days were partly cloudy but plenty of in between sunshine and light surface breezes, mostly from the northwest.

Sea Conditions: Very good on both sides of the peninsula with the Pacific side holding stable at 83-84 out to about 20 miles or so and southerly to the 1000 fathom curve. The Sea of Cortez side was just slightly warmer at 84 degrees along the inshore area and rising to 85-86 in the offshore area and outside the 1000 fathom curve. Very good clarity throughout the area.

Best Fishing Area: Most of the fish continue to come from the Pacific side of Cabo but we are starting to see more boats fish on the Sea of Cortez side, especially for the WON Tuna Tournament event.

Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was best for the billfish and many of the dorado, too. Yellowfin tuna were taken on live baits, artificials and chunking.

Live Bait Supply: Remained good for the caballitos at $3.00 each.
