The blue marlin continue to bite for the anglers from Mazatlan and the Aries Fleet again reports about a 50-50 chance for a big blue with a near 100% chance for a billfish fish. The "Aries III", skippered by Captain Martin Reygoza, reported in for 2 blue marlin, 1 sailffish and rounding out the two fishing days with 4 yellowfin tuna & two dorado. The overall counts for a total of 5 offshore fishing days produced 2 blue marlin, 2 sailfish, 4 yellowfin tuna and 4 dorado. The inshore super pangas reporting in for 4 days fished reflected 1 blue marlin and 24 dorado. While September is a terrific fishing month from Mazatlan, it is also one of the slowest months of the year for anglers and charters.

Many people ask about safety in Mexico and I can only tell you that I am in Tijuana, Mexico and Ensenada, Mexico, quite often and have yet to encounter any safety issues and for the skeptics, please click on this link for more information How Safe Is Mexico.

Mazatlan Climate: Hot & humid, partly cloudy to cloudy days and off & on again thunder showers. Temps ranged from 73 nights to 91 daytime highs with varied directional surface winds in the 5-15 mph ranges.

Sea Conditions: A 1-day port closure with the remainder of the week open for fishing.

Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 15-18 mies out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid and working into the southeast from there.

Best Bait/Lures: Rigged baits working best for the Sailfish and Dorado. Tuna and some Dorado being taken on feathers and cedar plugs. Blue's taken on bigger lures and rigged baits.

Bait Supply: Continues to be readily available for the anglers with fresh baits for rigging and live baits for casting.
