Just let an area get back to a little good weather conditions and the fishing comes right back to par normal. Puerto Morelos caught some much better weather during this past week and the fishing improved throughout the area and even including a single sailfish in the 13 fish mixed age catch for the area. Average fish per boats was way up and reflected a 10.8 fish per boat day fished and that's very respectable fishing results for any area. While the numbers of charters have slowed over the past few weeks, that's typical of this time of year when there are much fewer numbers of anglers and inclement weather is the norm. However, with last week's weather improvements the fish wanted to bite and the counts reflected 1 sailfish, 20 bonito, 7 giant barracuda, 4 rainbow runners, 1 needle fish, 1 king mackerel, 12 grouper, 54 banana fish, 41 triggerfish, 2 grumpy fish, 1 soap fish, 7 strawberry fish and 11 snappers.

PM Climate: Partly cloudy days but finally, a drier week with only a few scattered showers and temps that ranged from 71 nights to 88 daytime highs. Surface breezes were primarily from the easterly directions from calm to 11 mph.

Sea Conditions: A favorable week for the anglers for the most part with good temps that were stable at 85 degrees throughout the area. Small swell conditions and good clarity.

Best Bait: The on-going bait of choice for this are remains the ever-present ballyhoo that is used for rigging, skirting, cutting, etc. All of the fish in this area bite very well on the ballyhoo baits used in one form or another.
