Mazatlan has started to come alive as we enter the fall fishing period. The blue marlin are moving in as the dorado counts increased substantially over the past week and the offshore boats produced a 50% blue marlin average. The dorado bite, which has been late this year, is coming alive all over the area and some of the fish are quality sizes, in the 35-45 lb. ranges. The overall numbers of dorado are way up for the past week's report and reflected about 10 per boat day fished in the offshore waters but even better for the inshore super pangas. The inshore super pangas reflected 5 days fished that produced limits of dorado, (40) for their efforts, along with a single yellowfin tuna. The offshore cruisers reflected catches for 8 days fished that included 4 blue marlin, (2-300 lb. fish) and 81 dorado. The weather has started to settle in for the fall fishing and barring any unforeseen changes, we should begin to experience some terrific fishing results for the next couple of months.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with a good sunshine mix and temps that ranged from 70 nights to 88 daytime highs. Surface breezes mostly flowing in from the westerly directions from calm to about 11 mph. Very good clarity from about 14-15 miles.

Sea Conditions: Excellent! Small surface swell and good clarity that are accompanied by excellent water temps that range from 86-87 throughout the area.

Best Fishing Area: Remains out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid with the billfish from about 18 miles and outbound from there.

Best Bait/Lure: Lures are working well on the blue marlin as our rigged baits. Dorado have been pretty eager to bite the artificials as well as the rigged baits.

Bait Supply: Remains very favorable with plenty of fresh rigging baits and good live bait supply at $1.00 per bait.
