According to our area reporter, Captain Temo Verboonen, the fishing is getting better and better for both the inshore and offshore fishing throughout the Zihuatanejo area. He says, "the area is dry, weather is perfect, ocean is calm, the water is blue just 3 miles from the Bay and the fish are biting". The dorado bite is really good and the fish are in the 15-20 kg. ranges, (30 to to 40-plus lbs.). Big roosters were good for a couple of days but move in and out with the clean/dirty water. As soon as the inshore waters clear up, the fish will be back in the area. Already, it's starting to look very good throughout the area for both, inshore and offshore fishing. Skippers are reporting 3-plus sailfish releases per day and some days even better.

IZ Climate: Perfect weather with partly cloudy days and temps that ranged from 73 nights to 92 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Near Perfect, like the weather. Temps holding stable at 86-87 degrees with surface breezes about 7-10 mph. from the westerly directions. Blue water just 3 miles from the bay and getting cleaner by the day.

Best Fishing Area: Right now the better fishing is 8-15 miles out to the south of Zihuatanejo Bay for the dorado and sailfish. Lots of dorado closer around the logs and floating junk.

Best Bait/Lure: The bite is very good on live bait, trolled baits and the artificials, too. Fish are eager to bite.

Bait Supply: Excellent for both, fresh rigging baits and live bait. Live bait is still at $5.00 per dozen.
