Just another family fun fishing week from Puerto Morelos that offered a wide spectrum mixed bag catch of some 14 species that included another off-season sailfish. While the Port was closed on Monday, the remainder of the week remained very fishable and the fleet reflected a total of 19 days of action for the anglers that included a total of 201 different fish. Catches included 1 sailfish, 62 bonito, 3 amberjack, 7 giant barracuda, 7 king mackerel, 4 blackfin tuna and 3 Spanish mackerel for the surface action and 19 grouper, 34 snappers, 24 grumpy fish, 13 triggerfish, 10 strawberry fish, 36 banana fish and 3 rainbow runners.

PM Climate: Rough & breezy conditions on Monday and the Port was closed. Before the closure and on through the week the weather was respectable, albeit, mostly cloudy days with temps that varied from 68 nights to 87 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Monday was the only not so nice day and the port was closed due to inclement weather conditions. Sea temps remained excellent at stable at 85 degrees and winds subsided to 7-10 mph from the easterly directions.

Best Bait: The bait of choice remains the ballyhoo in this area that are supplied on a daily basis by the bait catchers. The freshly provided baits are prepared differently and depend on the fish being sought after.

Bait Supply: Continues to be excellent for fresh caught ballyhoo, supplied free for each charter.
