The striper action has picked up considerably this past week and even with a single port closure day, the fish remained active for the anglers. High boat for the week was the "Gaviota IX", reflecting a total of 14 stripers landed for 4 days fished, along with 13 dorado. Most of the boats that targeted billfish had opportunities for 2 or more fish for the day. The Pacific side continued to be the top producer for billfish and dorado and the Pozo De Cota area was leading the bite area. However, in talking with the owner of the Fish Cabo boat, Roberto Marquez, he said the marlin were all over the place and seemingly catchable in most any direction. The overall fish counts for a total of 41 combined days fished reflected a total of 1 blue marlin, (225 lbs.) 66 stripers, (64 released) 3 yellowfin tuna and 145 dorado.

Cabo Climate: Lots of sunshine with a few partly cloudy days, all with temps that ranged from 62 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: A 1-day port closure from the remnants of Hurricane Raymond and then right back to normal fishing. Good temps on both sides of the peninsula and generally range from 81-82 on the Pacific side to 84 on the Sea of Cortez side. Surface winds are 9-13 mph from variable directions.

Best Fishing Area: The Pacific side still best area to fish for dorado and billfish but good fishing right now on both sides of the peninsula.

Best Bait/Lure: Rigged ballyhoo baits are working very well for billfish and dorado and of course, the fish are biting live bait very well, too. Even the lures continue to be active in the dorado and petrolero colors and feathers and cedar plugs for the yellowfin tuna.

Live Bait Supply: The live bait supply continues to be plentiful and stable at the $3.00 per bait rate.
