The Aries Sportfishing Fleet reported excellent fall fishing for the offshore boats and equally as good for the inshore super pangas. Seemed like all of the fish wanted t6o bite this past week and the counts were superb. The catches for the 13 offshore fishing days reflected 2 blue marlin, (1 released) 25 sailfish, (6 released) and 22 dorado.
The inshore super pangas reporting in for 9 days fished reflected 4 sailfish, (2 released) 4 dorado, 45 triggerfish, 15 jack crevalle, 22 snapper and 4 corvina. High boat for the week was the "Aries III", reporting in for 3 days fished and catches that included 1 blue marlin released, 7 sailfish, (4 released) and 5 dorado for their efforts.
According to our local reporter, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, the fishing has been on the rise and looks like it's going to continue or get better in the coming week. The weather has been improving day by day for the past week and it looks like the hurricane season has finally passed by.
Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days with a sunshine mix and light and varied surface breezes from the southerly directions. Air temps holding at 66 nights to 89 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Good sea temps holding stable at 84-85 degrees throughout the area. Little to no swell and good clarity starting at about 14 miles and beyond.
Best Fishing Area: Starting at about 15 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, where the super clean water begins.
Best Lure/Bait: Sailfish and dorado remain eager and active for the rigged baits. Dorado also eager for the live baits, too. The single blue was taken on an artificial, the larger models in the dorado colors.
Bait Supply: The bait supply remains excellent for both, baits for rrigging and live bait. Live bait remains $1.00 per bait.
