According to Captain Temo Verboonen, the dorado are biting about everything that moves in the water, just 2 miles out in front of the bay and almost every dorado is a quality keeper. Most of the dorado are in the 20-40 lb. ranges. There are many schools of bonito and the sailfish eagerly bite in between the bonito schools. The inshore fishing has been exceptional, too, with the roosterfish bite at the top of the action. The roosters are preferring live bait but a few are still biting the poppers. "It's been an exciting week and the fishing and catching has been wonderful for the anglers". Multiple fish catches continue to be the trend for both, inshore and offshore fishing and the daily results keep the anglers excited. Even better, the ocean remains calm and the water temps are near perfect. Multiple fish catches have been the daily trend and it doesn't appear there is going to be any change for awhile.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days with intermittent sunshine and temps that varied from 74 nights to 93 daytime highs. Surface breezes are varied in directions from 6-10 mph.

Sea Conditions: Calm and warm water for the entire area. Temps are holding well at 86-87 degrees and stretches from inshore to offshore waters. Little swell and very good clarity at 2 miles out from the Bay.

Best Fishing Area: The roosterfish, mostly in the 20-30 lb. ranges, have been hugging the beach line when the bait is present. When not, they move to deep water and feed on the bonitos. The dorado & sailfish start at the 2-mile mark, just out front of the Bay. The better fishing has been along the current line and clarity change with many logs holding schools of dorado.

Best Lure/Bait: Roosters liking the live bait best. Dorado eager on most everything that moves and the sailfish biting both, live bait and rigged baits. Great fishing action.

Bait Supply: The bait supply, both fresh baits for rigging and live baits, readily available. Live bait continues at the $5.00 per dozen level.
