Captain Temo Verboonen, owner of the super panga, Secuestro de Amor, sends a glowing report for the area and one can almost feel the daily fishing excitement in just a few words, "Fishing is good"..... The offshore waters are productive with sailfish and striped marlin, ranging from 10-20 miles from the coastline and good catches of 20 lb. yellowfin tuna at the 20 miles mark. The dorado being caught in the off shore waters are mostly the bigger fish, 30-plus lbs. and more. The inshore waters still providing excellent action for the roosterfish and jack crevalle and schools of dorado swimming with the bonitos, making for easy limit fishing. This is really fun fishing with spinning gear and the fast action continues on the poppers and live bait, too. There has been no rain yet but some showers in the mountains and the river mouths are still closed.

IZ Climate: Temps ranging from 72 nights to 92 daytime highs and a little humid with mostly cloudy days. Very pleasant on the water when fishing.

Sea Conditions: Mostly Calm days with light surface breezes from the ESE a 1-10 mph. Sea temps stable at 86 inshore and rising to 87-88 offshore by the 1000 fathom curve. Excellent offshore blue water clarity.

Best Fishing Areas: The inshore fishing spans a wide area right now as the roosterfish, jack crevalle and dorado are all moving along the beaches and balls of bait and Valentin point remains excellent. The offshore waters are productive from about 10 miles and beyond for the billfish, tuna and big dorados.

Best Bait/Lure: The inshore fishing has really been fun using the spinning tackle but live bait is working superbly, too. The offshore waters for the billfish and bigger dorado are showing excellent results on the rigged trolling baits and the yellowfin tuna are eager on a variety of arttificials, including tuna feathers and cedar plugs.
