It was very close to a 70% billfish catch ratio this past week for the 29 combined offshore fishing days with a rounding-out of a few wahoo, yellowfin tuna and dorado. High boat for the week was the Fish Cabo, reflecting 7 stripers released for 5 days fished, followed by the Gaviota IV, reflecting 3 stripers released for 3 days fished. The overall fish counts for the total boat days fished reflected 20 stripers, (19 released) 1 roosterfish, 4 wahoo, (to 35 lbs.) 5 yellowfin tuna and 14 dorado.

Cabo Climate: A few passing clouds but warm days through the week with a very sunny Saturday. Temps varied from 64 nights to 88 daytime highs and 73% humidity ratio.

Sea Conditions: Pacific side, Golden Gate to Jaime Banks and in to Cabo San Lucas, all at 82 degrees and then from Cabo to the Outer Gorda Bank, all at 83 degrees. Mostly light & variable surface breezes flowing from the southerly directions that ranged from calm to about 10 mph. The entire area is providing good water clarity.

Best Fishing Area: Cabo Falso drop off to about 3-4 miles off shore and the Pozo de Cota area, 2-4 miles offshore.

Best Bait/Lure: Drift fishing at Cabo Falso was working best. According to Captain Roberto Marquez, the area looked pretty baron, (no bait, no birds, no sealife) but the drift fishing with sinkers and live bait for billfish was working for most of the boats in the area.

Bait Supply: Very good bait supply, mostly caballitos, at the $3.00 per bait rate.
